PDQ MV 32

The performance of the PDQ MV 32 exceeded expectations. When launched, the throttles were advanced and - before the PDQ MV 32 had moved 100 feet - the vessel slipped through the 13-knot target speed. Continuing to apply the full power from the 55's, over 17 knots was achieved; in other words, a person could ski behind the stout little ship. The inside wheel position in the trial vessel is just aft of midships. The ergonomics that were originally planned out on the computer model "proved out", as the helm's visibility, sightlines, and course-holding sense are excellent. For the trial vessel, the sailboat accommodation plan was substantially enlarged by the addition of the deckhouse area. The resultant split-level saloon has a remarkably expansive, light, and airy atmosphere with natural communication between the entire area and the galley. The two double aft cabins remain virtually unchanged. The sliding aft access door works perfectly with no head-bangers apparent. The stair to the flying bridge was designed using ergonomic principles and provides secure access to the large upper level. This combination of door and stair works very well to provide movement from the interior to the flying bridge deck.
