Excelsior Trust
The Excelsior Trust thrives – but needs your help.
A unique experience awaits you sailing aboard this historic old ship. Be it for a day, or a week to the Tall Ships Race – or perhaps helping other volunteers keep her in good condition by offering skilled, or unskilled maintenance work in winter, or perhaps crewing her in the summer. Its all part of keeping Britain’s maritime heritage on the go.
The Excelsior Trust which is based on the East Coast, both maintains and keeps the ship at sea. She is the last Lowestoft trawler still sailing. Groups of all ages and backgrounds – some young people, including the disadvantaged, from schools and causes, find her a challenge – often inspiring them into a new way of life.
You can sail aboard her, be it for a day out of Lowestoft or the River Orwell near Ipswich – or for longer voyages, including on the famous Tall Ships Race itself.
We also run a shipyard which is available to help other vessels, particularly historic craft. Boats may be slipped here for owners to service – or for skilled local workers to tackle tasks with your, or our, supervision.
You can join our Trust and attend social events, wear our ship’s apparel with pride – and know you are helping keep up a piece of English history.
