Alaska whale watching is world renowned and we think we offer some of the best in Alaska. Your charter will take you through waters with some of the highest concentrations of humpback whales in the world. Besides the whales, you can see lots of other marine mammals. The possible list includes seals, Steller sea lions, Dall porpoise, sea otters and Pacific white side dolphins.
Alaska fishing. What can we say? It's the best! You can fish for salmon and halibut in salt water right off the Heron. Maybe you'd like to head up one of the many streams in our area to try fly fishing for salmon. We'll take you there in one of the shore boats we carry onboard. Back on the Heron we specialize in preparing your catch for a fresh alaskan seafood dinner.
Southeast Alaska ia a sea kayaking paradise. Thousands of miles of coastline and hundreds of uninhabited islands. Plenty of calm water for you to paddle whether you're a beginner or expert. We carry several kayaks onboard for you to use. The Heron makes a great base for sea kayaking adventures.
Your charter will include a glacier cruise if you would like to see one of these wonders of nature up close. There are several tidewater glaciers that you can choose to visit. We like to travel to the lesser known glacial fjords where you won't see the big cruise ships, these are spectacular places and we're often the only ones there.
If wildlife viewing is your interest there are a lot of possibilities on the Heron. Keep your eyes on the shore. Brown bear (grizzly) and black bear are commonly seen there or up a stream fishing for salmon. Mountain goats, moose, wolves, deer, mink and marten have all been spotted from the Heron and of course bald eagles and many species of sea birds.
Cruising the Inside Passage on your own private charter yacht is the only way to go! The Heron will take you in style, comfort and safety. Alaska Passages Adventure Cruises is owned and operated by Scott and Julie Hursey, long-time Alaska residents. Both have backgrounds in science and natural history and extensive local experience.
